Pokemon HG/SS Gym Leader Guide Part 3
Part 3: Whitney, The Incredibly Pretty Girl

    Goldenrod Gym

"Welcome to the Goldenrod Gym! Do you recognize the shape of this maze? Yes! It is in the shape of a Clefairy! Oh and you need to know something important. Whitney is a bit of a cry baby. You're going to have a problem on your hands if you defeat her....but it might be a challenge for you to do that."

    Navigating The Gym
Unfortunately, you are forced to battle a few of the trainers in this gym. Take the route to the stairs on the upper side of the maze. Go down the stairs and go up to the top right corner of the gym. Go left and go through the entrance to inside the Clefairy maze. Navigate yourself around the walls, battle the trainers, and go to Whitney.

    Trainers

    - Snubull - Level 17

    Gained 272!

    - Jigglypuff - Lever 15

    Gained 240!

    Gym Leader Whitney
Hi! I'm Whitney! ...You! I saw you at the Radio Tower just now. Everyone was into Pokémon, so I got into it, too! Pokémon are super cute! You want to battle? I'm warning you--I'm good!

"My Cowy is going to annoy you to the brink of extinction!"

    Clefairy ~ Level 17

"Whitney is such an amazing, mature person...don't you think?"

    Type
    Normal

    Weaknesses
    Fighting Type Moves

    Unaffected By
    Ghost Type Moves

    Ability
Cute Charm ~ Contact with the Pokémon may cause infatuation.

    Moves
    Mimic - Normal - Status
~ The user copies the move last used by the foe. The move can be used for the rest of the battle.

    Encore - Normal - Status
~ The user compels the foe to keep using only the move it last used for two to six turns.

Double Slap - Normal - Physical
~ The foe is slapped repeatedly, back and forth, two to five times in a row.

    Metronome - Normal - Status
~ The user waggles a finger and stimulates the brain into randomly using nearly any move.

    Review
You shouldn't have a problem with Clefairy. The only time you will is when you get unlucky. If you're going to use some kind of status move that will give it a status problem, you may want to hold that move and save it for later just in case Clefairy uses Encore. Metronome are it's only attack based move that may do a lot of damage so hopefully you get lucky and Clefairy uses weaker moves when using it rather than using Hyper Beam and that stuff.

H-hey! Just one left? But... I ain't losin' you hear?

    Miltank ~ Level 19

    "Moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo"
"I will defeat you with my healthy milk, my strength, and my looks"

    Unaffected By
    Ghost Type Moves

    Ability
Scrappy ~ Enables moves to hit Ghost-type foes.

    Poor me!

    Moves
    Attract - Normal - Status
~ If it is the opposite gender of the user, the foe becomes infatuated and less likely to attack.

Milk Drink - Normal - Status
~ The user restores its own HP by up to half of its maximum HP. It may also be used to heal an ally's HP.

    Stomp - Normal - Physical
~ The foe is stomped with a big foot. It may also make the target flinch.

    Rollout - Rock - Physical
~ The user continually rolls into the foe over five turns. It becomes stronger each time it hits.

    Review
This is one annoying cow(y) for some people. If you want to avoid part of the trouble, using a female Pokemon to battle Miltank will erase Attract from being usable. That doesn't mean you've avoided all trouble though. Milk Drink is the move Miltank will use if her HP is low. Try to get in some strong moves on her to keep the battle short. Other than that, stomp has a 30% chance of flinching you and Rollout is a move that Miltank will use in succession until one of the moves misses. Want to hear the annoying part of Rollout? It's power doubles every time it hits in succession! So you start at 30%, 60%, 120%, 240%, 480% and then the cycle will restart. Of course the power will be reduced back to 30 if the move misses.

    Miltank Finally Fainted

    Ugh...

    Gained 2280!

    After Defeat
Waaaaah! Waaaaah! ...Snivel, hic. ... You meanie!

    *Whistles*...*Whistles Some More*.....*Stares at Whitney*
Looks like she isn't going to give it to you...time to head out.

    !

"Oh! Don't worry about Whitney. She'll get over it. Head back to her for your badge."

Sniff... What? What do you want? A Badge? Oh, right. I forgot. Here's the Plain Badge.

    Obtained the Plain Badge!

The Plain Badge lets your Pokémon use Strength outside of battle. Oh, you can have this, too! It's Attract!

    Obtained the TM45 Attract!

It makes full use of a Pokémon's charm. Isn't it just perfect for a cutie like me?

That's right! I heard this thing called the Pokéthlon Dome is now open right next to the National Park. You should go try it, since you're so good at battling with your Pokémon!
