    My Sunny Day Team

    Post by Hero on Mon Feb 21, 2011 12:17 pm

    I would like anyone to please rate/criticize my Sunny day team that I finished currently.
    Sunny Day team

    Uxie
    Item: Heat Rock

    Ability: Levitate

    Nature: Impish

    EV Spread: 252 HP Evs, 180 Defence Evs, 78 Sp. Defence

    ~~~~~~~~~~
    Moveset:
    ~Reflect
    ~Light Screen
    ~Sunny Day
    ~Thunder Wave
    This is my Lead, Uxie. Uxie does a good job of setting up Sunny day team and paralizing if needed. Reflect and Light screen are for supporting this team although Taunt can easily stop Uxie in it's tracks which is why I may get rid of either the screens for U-turn or Psychic.
    Leafeon
    Item: Life Orb
    Ability: Leaf Guard (Can't wait till it's Dream World Ability is available)
    Nature: Jolly
    EV Spread: 252 Attack Evs, 252 Speed Evs, 4 HP Evs.
    ~~~~~~~~~~

    Moveset:

    ~HP Fighting
    ~Leaf Blade
    ~Synthesis
    ~Sword Dance

    Leafeon is one of my physical sweepers which needs Sunny Day support for best sweep effect. Leaf Guard allows Leafeon to strike Blissey with no fear of getting a status. Synthesis is for healing after damage from the opponent and Life Orb has been taken. Also Hp Fighting takes care of steel types like Heatran and Metagross although it will at the most 4KO them or 3. Thanks to Leafeons acceptable Defence, It can take a physical hit while it uses Sword Dance for better and deadlier sweep.
    __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Heatran

    Item: Life Orb

    Ability: Flash Fire

    Nature: Modest

    EV Spread: 252 Sp. Attack, 252 Speed Evs, 4 Defence Evs
    ~~~~~~~
    Moveset:
    ~Heat Wave
    ~Solarbeam
    ~Dragon Pulse
    ~Earth Power
    Heatran is one of my Special sweepers. Dragon pulse takes out all dragons who think they can stand up to Heatran. Solarbeam does the same to Water types, and Earth Power to Electric, Fire, and Rock types. I chose Heat Wave over Flamethrower because of it's higher chance of burning and abit more power. I'm not to worried about Heat Wave's accuracy.
    __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
    Cressila
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Levitate
    Nature: Bold
    EV Spread: 252 Hp Evs/ 252 Defence Evs/ 4 Sp. Defence
    ~~~~~~~~~~

    Moveset

    ~Ice beam
    ~Thunder wave
    ~Sunny Day
    ~Moonlight

    Cressila here is my support pokemon. Thunder Wave always does a good job on Pokemon my team may have trouble defeating. It also sets back up Sunny day if gone which Moonlight pairs up with nicely. Ice beam takes out dragons who uses Outrage.
    __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Starmie

    Item: Leftovers

    Ability: Natural Cure

    Nature: Timid

    EV Spread: 200 HP Evs/ 252 Speed Evs/ 52 Sp. Attack Evs
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Moveset:
    ~Thunderbolt
    ~Rapid Spin
    ~Grass Knot
    ~Thunder Wave
    Starmie is my spin support which is somewhat very important to this team. Thunderbolt is for hitting all Water types as well Grass knot for any heavy weighted Pokemon. Thunder Wave is also a good side support for Starmie.
    __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
    Shiftry
    Item: Lum berry
    Ability: Chlorophyll
    Nature: Mild
    EV Spread: 252 Sp. Attack Evs/ 180 Speed Evs/ 72 Attack Evs
    ~~~~~~~~~~

    Moveset

    ~Solarbeam
    ~Sucker Punch
    ~HP Ground
    ~Brick Break

    Shiftry here is my Mixed sweeper which has a wall of destroying walls effectively. Solarbeam & Sucker Punch are his main move. Hp Ground is for handling Steel & Fire types that appear in Shiftry's way. Brick Break is for screen breaking as Bronzong sets them up.

    Revisions:
    Okay, this team needs a serious over haul. First off, Starmie needs to go. Granted, it does lack Water-Type moves but:
    1. Starmie, to be the necessary sweeper, needs Hydro Pump in it's move pool to make it effective.

    2.Even without Water-Type moves, Sunny Day still over-all weakens Starmie's offense.

    And, just to let you know, Morning Sun allows more health recovery, so You may consider switch Cressalia with Espeon, to be on the safe side. As for Heatran, if you want to keep it fine, but it is Uber, thus illegal by average battling standards. I would replace it with..... My mind is blank, I'll edit this. I see why you want HP Fighting, but Ground would be much more efficient, and you shouldn't take this much precaution for Blissey. Plus, Ground is still Super-Effective against it, as well as covering Fire-Types that would prove deadly.

    Other than that, keep on keeping on.

    Some notes:

    ~Heatran isn't an uber. If it was, it's moved to OU plus, It doesn't really have the base stat to be a uber.

    ~Espeon doesn't have all that good defences without the screens set up and 252 Hp evs even though Morning Sun is a execellent recovery move, I'm not sure I'm gonna switch Cressila for that reason.

    ~Starmie isn't really my special sweeper, mainly spin support even though its not going to KO Blastiose with one Thunderbolt with the invested evs in Sp. Attack. Is there any other Pokemon you suggest to swap Starmie for?

    ~Thanks for the HP suggestion, although I may not change it because of the fact, getting a specific HP is abit.....challenging. Plus I'm not planning to hit Blissey with HP Fighting at all since Hp is a special move.

    Oh and thanks for the suggestions.

    Espeon is a Sp.Defensive wall. Two, You you should really consider using Morning Sun, plus Toxic, Protect and possibly a Psychic for STAB.

    In my opinion its pretty good. I agree starmie isnt good in that team sunnyday will weaken a STAB move, but if you dont care, hydro pump could be a better choice.Yeah heatran isnt an uber

    Well, Shoddy thinks otherwise. Regardless, Heatran should, because its Speed is ridiculous.

    I'm in a rush at the moment, but I'll give some quick pointers:

    -Scrap Dual Screens on Uxie. Dual Screens AND Sunny Day is just trying to do way too much at a time. I would suggest using U-turn to ease the transition between Uxie and a sweeper, and dumping another attack in the other screen's place (Heal Bell maybe if you have HGSS).
    -Not too sure what to do with Leafeon, but maybe try Return instead of HP Fighting to take advantage of the attack boost while retaining relatively good coverage (Grass + Normal is decent; only really walled by Steels who can be dealt with by Heatran).
    -Give Heatran Fire Blast over Heat Wave. 20 more power for only 5 accuracy.
    -Cresselia seems fine; deals with some stuff that could cause problems for your team.
    -Remove Grass Knot from Starmie and give it Hydro Pump. Yes, I know this heavily contrasts with your Sunny Day, but having no STAB is kinda unfortunate, and Hydro Pump can nail opposing Fire-types who can take advantage of Sunny Day and wreck your team. Also, you could try replacing Thunder Wave with Recover to make Starmie last longer.
    -Try a Life Orb on Shiftry since he really needs the extra power.

    Also, your team is horrendously weak to Bug (5 of your teammates are weak to it), so you may want to change some stuff up to patch up that weakness.

    I'll see if I can add some more suggestions later; Sunny Day teams are fun, and I'll be glad to help.
