    Star Team Discussion

Post by Hydrocannon2727 on Mon Sep 06, 2010 8:15 pm

This forum is basically a discussion/debate of your star teams that you've created during your competitive battling year(s). Rules:
No put downs, this includes the following
~Things like "That team sucks.", or "Are you retarded?".

      No angry/offensive debating, only suggestions.

Do not get defensive if you are rightfully accused of having hacks, unless the accuser bes rude.

First Message Reminder: Discuss this team base:
    Alakazam@Suggestive Item
    Jolly Nature
    ~Safeguard
    ~Swagger
    ~Psychic
    ~Suggestive move

    Crobat@Expert Belt
    Adamant Nature
    ~Heat Wave
    ~Brave Bird
    ~Poison Fang
    ~Air Slash

Purpose: Alakazam's soul purpose is to set Safeguard, then Swagger Crobat, to max his Physical Attack. Since Crobat has TONS of Special Attack EV's I do not have to worry about that stat at all, so I can safe sweep for a few turns, without the dangers of Poison, Burn, etc. My next two members are fro sure going to be Mightyena and Girafarig, so if you have any suggestions, be free to speak openly.

That stategy looks alright, though I'd personally use something more bulky than Alakazam, and I'd probably give Crobat a Naughty or Lonely nature instead of an Adamant one. Also, Poison Fang should probably be replaced with Roost as Poison is still really weak, even after STAB.

Anyways, here's a combo that's quite effective. It's for singles:

    Swampert @ Leftovers
    Relaxed Nature
    EVs: 252 HP / 252 Defense / 4 Special Defense
    -Stealth Rock
    -Earthquake
    -Ice Beam
    -Roar / Surf

    Roserade @ Black Sludge
    Calm Nature
    EVs: 252 HP / 120 Defense / 136 Special Defence
    -Spikes / Toxic Spikes
-Grass Knot / Energy Ball / Leaf Storm
    -Rest / Leech Seed
-Hidden Power of sorts / Leech Seed

Basically, a duo that can easily set up entry hazards together. Swampert's only weakness, Grass, is taken easily by Roserade who can proceed to set up Spikes or Toxic Spikes. Roserade's Leech Seed can help Swampert recover HP, while Swampert can use Roar to abuse the hazards that the duo sets up.

Note: Spikes is illegal with many of Roserade's egg moves, including Leaf Storm, and Sleep Powder, as its only parents are Cacnea and Cacturne, who don't learn these moves.

I would definitely go for the Hidden Power Fire, to eliminate any weakness to your Swampert. It would be safe to use Leaf Storm, since Roserade are pretty average Defense wise. Here's the team improved:
    Alakazam@Suggestive Item
    ~Swagger
    ~Safeguard
    ~Psychic
    ~Energy Ball

    Crobat@Expert Belt
    ~Brave Bird
    ~Heat Wave
    ~Air Slash
    ~Suggestive Move

    Girafarig@Leftovers
    ~Safeguard
    ~Assurance
    ~Psychic
    ~Recover/Suggestive

    Dusknoir@Leftovers
    ~Thunder Punch
    ~Shadow Sneak
    ~Miracle Eye
    ~Psychic

    Togekiss/Blissey (Vote)

Second Topic Reminder:You may post more than two Pokemon per team, mine was just a base.
